New to the Shimano lineup in 2008, The new Core reels are designed to be the ultimate, lightweight baitcasting reels. Made with magnesium frames and sideplates, and featuring Magnumlite spool construction, the standard version weighs in at just 6.1 ounces with a 6.2:1 gear ratio. Available in right or left handed and a right handed version with a flipping button built in (MGFV). The MGFV Flipping version is equipped with instagage II, and comes with oversized PV paddles and a 7.0:1 gear ratio. The Core series of reels from Shimano also include High Efficiency Gearing, Supper Stopper and Super Free, Variable Brake System, Dartainium Drag, Clicking Drag Adjustment, Aluminum Cast Control Knob and Septon Handle Grips.
